The Photo Writing Prompt
PHOTO PROMPT © Todd Foltz
Description for my blind/visually impaired readers: The story is about what I see.
The Inspiration
When I look at the photo prompts, I often am not sure what I’m seeing. So today, I decided to pull back the curtain and let you know my first impression of today’s prompt. I’m also sharing this for an episode of my Low Vision Living Podcast, since it fits so well.
The Story: A Sunbeam, Some Lumps, and a Ledge
Genre: Memoir/Real Life
Word Count: 100
It takes my eyes awhile to figure out what I’m seeing, especially in an unfamiliar situation.
Visual chaos disorients and overwhelms me, whether from a cluttered room, a checkerboard restaurant floor, a patterned tablecloth, or sun-dappled shadows on the ground.
When I look at a picture, it often takes me a few tries to know what I’m seeing. First, I get the energetic impression, then my brain pieces together elements that make the most visual sense.
So, when I saw today’s photo prompt, I first experienced the sun energy, and then I saw a sunbeam, some lumps, and a ledge.
Thanks for reading!

I commented on another blog that for two days I have been seeing this picture and at one time I thought it was balls, like bocce balls that you play with outside, and another time I thought it was onions! Alot of it really is perception and what your mind sees.

Eggs do have a lumpy shape 🙂

Yes they do. The second time I looked at it I confirmed that yes those were eggs but it really wasn’t clear to me in the beginning. Just the way my eyes process things. Thank you for stopping by!

I thought it might be interesting. On the second look I realize that the lumps were brown eggs but I wasn’t certain of that at the very first glance. Have a great week, and thank you for reading.
