Hi and thanks for visiting! I think we all need a feeling of freedom these days, so this story might be exactly what you crave!
The Inspiration: Te “What Pegman Saw” Writing Challenge
Today Pegman saw something in Happy Jack, Arizona. Your mission as always is to use the photosphere/street view part of Google Maps to wander around and find something that inspires you to write up to 150 words, then post your work to the InLinkz below. Reading and commenting on other stories is part of the experience, so you won’t want to miss out! Do you best, and have fun!
Many thanks to Josh and Karen for hosting the challenge and to Rochelle Wisoff-Fields for participating. That’s how I found out about it.e.
What Ronda SawI thought how wonderful it would be to ride the thermals as a Hawk.
As I played with the Google Map and thought of how much I yearned for an open, blue sky instead of the oppressive grey layer under which I reside today, I looked up at the sky. This is what I saw.

The Story: Freedom in the Skies
Genre: Fantasy or Magical Realism

I rise to meet the Freedom Winds that carry me fa. Perfectly still yet flying, i surrender myself to sky and air. Here in this big sky, I soar, free.
No strain.
No effort.
Just flying free.
What appears so large from down below amongst the trees looks insignificant as I ride the wonderful thermals.
I am a far-seer. Only from up high do I gain the right perspective.
My life-mate calls to me. I leave the carrying winds and fly toward her. We bring each other joy and bless the air with our love. Our cries delight our Father Sky and Mother Earth. Glorious sun warms us.
Life is good.

You convey some of the joy I imagine a bird of prey would feel when soaring. Your line, “Perfectly still yet flying, i surrender myself to sky and air.” captures this perfectly for me. I have a pair of buzzards nesting close by, and it’s a delight to watch them circling ever higher and higher on a thermal.

Ah, what a wonderful thing to imagine, flying free so high in the air, and joining in love, too — the perfect fantasy to brighten these days, when I am stuck inside at home, alone,. (Well, with my cuddly cat, but she can’t fly either.) Thank you!

I’m so glad I gave you a really good break! It is what I imagine when I look into an empty, open sky.

Dear Ronda,
I love the feeling of weightlessness conveyed in your lovely piece. Akin to the feeling I have when swimming in deep water. 😉

Rochelle
